Restaurants in the Languedoc
In each house at Le Sarrail you will find a comprehensive restaurant guide to the best restaurants in the area, from pavement cafes where you can sit & watch French life go by to elegant French restaurants like 'Le Domaine d'Auriac' and Michelin-starred La Barbacane in the Cité of Carcassonne.
Carcasssonne town and the surrounding area also has some great traditional restaurants, like 'L'Ecurie' with its speciality côte de boeuf and large walled garden, the trendy 'Jardin en Ville', or Franck Putelat's 'Le Parc' which has Carcassonne's other Michelin star. Côté Ferme in the town centre is a wonderful little organic restaurant where you can also sample wines by the glass from their unique wine vending machine.
Travel along the coast and you will come across a selection of superb fresh fish and seafood restaurants, notably the wonderful wooden beach restaurants such as Zaza's & Biquet that appear in the sand as if by magic every year from May to September.
One excellent local restaurant - just 10 minutes away - is Maison Gayda. Here you can indulge in modern French cuisine and wines whilst enjoying views of the vineyards, or book one of their 'Paillotes', a grass huts amongst the pine trees and enjoy a sumptuous barbeque.
If you're looking for a really memorable dining experience then book a table at the L'Abbaye-Château de Camon which dates back to the 10th century. The food is exceptional and dining in the cloisters is the best way to enjoy the splendor of this fabulous building.
Whether you are looking for a simple farm inn (‘auberge’), a trendy bistro in the city centre, or Michelin-starred restaurant you will not have to travel far from Le Sarrail.
